We’re a Certified B Corp! But that’s not the whole story.
We’re proud to share that h2o creative is now a Certified B Corporation, joining a global community of businesses using their work as a force for good. But if you know us, you’ll know this hasn’t changed who we are. It simply validates who we’ve always been.
We’re a Certified B Corp! But That’s Not the Whole Story.
At h2o creative, becoming a certified B Corp isn’t just a milestone, but a commitment. Certification validates who we’ve always been: an impact-driven agency committed to meaningful, measurable impact and to helping clients succeed through purpose-driven marketing.
This is more than an announcement. It’s the story of our B Corp journey: the milestones that shaped it, the people who made it possible, and what certification means for our clients, partners and industry.
Why B Corp?
B Corporation certification is a globally recognised standard for businesses that balance profit with purpose. Certified B Corporations are independently verified by B Lab against rigorous standards covering social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.
Unlike traditional approaches to measuring business success, B Corp certification considers the impact a company has on its workers, governance, environment, community and customers. It’s about embedding stakeholder governance into decision-making and creating long-term value for people, the planet and prosperity.
For us, the decision to pursue certification was simple: we already believed in the values behind it. We didn’t do it to look good. We did it to hold ourselves to a higher standard and to keep raising that bar.
Our B Corp journey
Achieving certification required us to look at every corner of our business, from governance to community impact, environmental practices to employee wellbeing.
We refined our policies, reassessed our supply chain, measured our impact and had honest conversations about where we could do better - and then made it all happen.
There’s no one-size-fits-all roadmap. For us, it was about aligning our actions with our intentions. And doing it as a team.
Along the way, we implemented initiatives that continue to shape how we work:
Company-wide ESG dashboard – tracking our performance against B Corp certification and sustainable business practices in a transparent, accountable way.
Supplier questionnaires – Ensuring our partners share our commitment to sustainable business practices and ethical supply chains.
Charity partnership – Selecting Homeless Oxfordshire as our chosen charity, strengthening our social impact locally.
Employee training – Equipping our team with knowledge on sustainability and greenwashing in marketing, enabling more responsible creative work.
Staff engagement – Conducting regular surveys to improve satisfaction, deepen understanding of ESG principles and empower sustainability champions across the business.
Since becoming certified, we’ve continued to prioritise clarity and action. We’re building understanding across the team, communicating openly with clients about how certification shapes our work, strengthening supplier relationships and updating our public profiles to reflect our B Corp status.
Every step reinforces our belief that marketing can, and should, be a force for good.
B Corp certification achieved
Our B Corp certification was a significant milestone, but it was also the start of a new chapter.
The average score for businesses that complete the B Impact Assessment is 50.9, with a score of 80 required for certification. h2o creative scored 102.1 — more than double the average company score.
A triple-digit commitment
It’s a score we’re proud of. But it’s also just a moment in time. Because at the heart of B Corp is a promise to keep improving.
The standards are changing - and rightly so. As the world evolves, so must we. With B Lab’s new framework for lasting business impact, we’re committed to holding ourselves to a higher standard, every day.
Why B Corp matters for our clients and industry
Accountability has become the baseline for business. Stakeholder governance, credible climate transition plans and supply chain transparency are now expected by regulators, investors and consumers.
At a time when greenwashing undermines credibility, we believe transparency and measurable action are what truly matter.
Our B Corp certification demonstrates our commitment to responsible business practices and keeps us focused on long-term impact. For clients and partners, it means working with a team that puts sustainable business practices and ethics at the centre of everyday decisions.
That commitment matters in several ways:
Ethical supply chains – stronger due diligence and modern slavery compliance build confidence in delivery.
Transparency by design – impact scores and disclosure requirements mean our performance is open to scrutiny.
Measurable impact – certification covers governance, workers, community, environment and customers with a verified threshold of 80 points.
Continuous improvement – recertification every three years ensures accountability for progress.
For brand teams, this means partnering with an agency that shares your responsible business goals and understands the importance of communicating sustainability authentically.
As an agency, the work we create has reach. With that comes responsibility. We believe marketing should deliver results, but it should also make a difference for people, communities and the planet.
Collaboration for lasting impact
Being part of the B Corp community gives us the opportunity to share knowledge, learn from other businesses and contribute to collective action.
We’ve joined The B Hive, B Lab’s collaboration platform where B Corps exchange knowledge and resources. We are also developing relationships with local B Corps to explore initiatives that extend positive impact across our region.
These connections are a reminder that collaboration accelerates change.
What’s next? Raising the bar
B Corp certification isn’t the end of the road.
B Lab’s evolving standards place greater emphasis on areas including climate action, equity and human rights. We see this as a positive step. As the world evolves, so must we, and we’re committed to holding ourselves to a higher standard every day.
Recertification takes place every three years, but we’re not waiting for deadlines. Improvement is a daily practice.
Deepening our supplier engagement
Continuing employee development and ESG awareness
Expanding community impact through partnerships and pro bono work
Reducing our environmental footprint at every level
Marketing with impact. For our clients and the world.
We’re certified now. But this has always been how we do business.
As an ethical marketing agency, the work we create has an impact. B Corp certification reinforces our belief that the future of our industry lies in purpose-driven marketing, supported by sustainable business practices and ethical business principles.
