Strategy that starts before the brief.
Positioning and proposition work shaped by twenty years inside automotive.
We start with the
commercial objective.
We've spent twenty years learning how automotive markets buy and where the traps sit. So we skip the market lesson and start with your objective.
That means asking what you should be known for, who is actually worth the budget and what your proposition has to say to win the work. It is a conversation about the business before it is a conversation about the marketing.
What comes out is the foundation. A clear position and a ranked plan that everything else is built on, from this year's campaign to the launch two years out.
Your strategic foundations.
Brand positioning
Where you sit against the marques and suppliers you compete with. Then the one idea that makes choosing you obvious. The result is a position the whole business can repeat.
Marketing audits
Brand, channel and content audits that show what is working, what is wasted and where the quickest gains are.
Value proposition
A proposition pressure-tested against real buyer objections, from retail customers to procurement teams. Every claim has to survive them. Sales and marketing then tell one story.
Market analysis
Competitor and demand analysis that turns sector noise into a clear view of where to play. Just as useful: where not to. Budget then follows where the market is moving.
Audience strategy
Who actually decides and what moves them. Then how to reach them across buying cycles that run for months.
Start with the problem
Bring us the commercial problem. A senior strategist will tell you which of these it needs.
Strategy in action.
A premium product needed a brand to match.
Arcadia had outgrown the Cadonix brand around it.
Cadonix needed to update its branding to accurately portray its position as a premium brand in the market. Their main product, Arcadia, had become a top-tier offering, and their branding needed to reflect this new position.
The work started with a brand review. We defined who Cadonix needed to reach and the problems those buyers faced day to day. Then we mapped how Arcadia made their workflows simpler.
Those answers shaped a new value proposition and the messaging beneath it. The visual identity was built to carry both. Every touchpoint, digital and print, was then tested against the new position.
After rollout, a search and social campaign lifted page views by 550%. PPC click-through ran at twice the industry standard.
Four divisions. One brand.
Four businesses at risk of pulling apart.
Mergers and acquisitions had left Essentra's divisions with different audiences, industries, locations and cultures.
The risk was a business that looked siloed from the outside. Eight years into the partnership, we knew its nuances well enough to take this on. We worked with the senior leadership team.
Research findings became one brand, aligned to Essentra's own vision. The strategy then went inside the business through a proposition toolkit, persona animations, customer infographics and tone of voice guidance. Colleagues got the tools to explain it.
The brand was well received inside and outside the business. It set Essentra up for the next stage of its strategic plan.
Clear messaging first.
Leads followed.
Explaining a complex proposition.
Caresoft came to us looking for a marketing partner who understood the automotive sector and could work as an extension of their team.
To start, we worked through what Caresoft offered and who it needed to reach. That became a new value proposition and tone of voice.
A UI and UX review and an SEO audit came next. They set the priorities for the website. The refreshed site was faster, easier to update and better structured for search.
With the foundations set, campaign work began. The first webinar aimed for 50 sign-ups and drew 241 registrations.
New services need a reason to buy.
Propositions for new services.
Unipart wanted propositions for new and existing services, including support for electric vehicle supply chains.
Each project started in the market. We studied the audience and the opportunity before defining the offer.
Only then did we set out how Unipart's offer met that opportunity. The finished propositions went on to support outreach campaigns and fuel new business activity.
Four stories in.
Plenty more to read.
Positioning, audits and propositions across the automotive ecosystem.
Three ways to work together.
The right shape depends on the size of the problem, not the size of the budget.
A defined scope.
A clear output.
Standalone strategy work with a clear brief and a clear timeline. That might be positioning, an audit, market analysis or a value proposition your team can run with. Because we're already immersed in the automotive ecosystem, we skip the onboarding lag that costs other agencies the first month. The thinking gets to the point faster.
"h2o are easy to work with and take the time to fully understand the brief when working on a new project. They always deliver to a high-quality and pose thought-provoking ideas for us to consider when tackling a new challenge."
Henry Larard, Essentra Components
Ongoing capability.
Built around your commercial objective.
Some challenges are bigger than a single project. A 6-12 month programme starts with the strategy, then carries it into a launch or rollout, inside the business and out. A structured roadmap keeps milestones clear and outcomes measurable.
"h2o have supported Essentra for many years now on a range of global, regional and local projects and campaigns from brand to product marketing, to major 1,000 page catalogues with 19 different language variations. The account management and attention to detail means that big campaigns feel straightforward and h2o remove a lot of the client stress."

Fully embedded.
Genuinely accountable.
For businesses that want more than a supplier. Every partnership starts with strategy: the positioning and priorities that each campaign and launch builds on. From there, the same senior team gets to know your stakeholders, your history and your internal pressures as well as your brief. Full-agency capability is there when the plan needs it.
Our average client relationship runs to eight years. Our longest is over eighteen. Those numbers exist because the work keeps delivering and the intelligence keeps compounding the longer we work together.
"The team is very in tune with our business and business needs. We have a fantastic relationship with the team, and they quickly build up a rapport with teams in the business when working on a project with them."
Alistair Drummond, Unipart

Questions we are usually asked.
Straight answers about how strategy work with h2o runs.
It depends on the scope agreed in our first conversations. We can work to your timelines and adapt as requirements change. Good strategy still needs room to think, and rushing it only moves problems further down the line.
Every engagement is scoped before it's priced. The shape of the work follows the size of the problem. With twenty years in automotive behind us, your budget goes on your challenge from day one.
Yes. If it's working, our creative, digital, development and experiences teams can deliver on it directly. If you're less sure, an audit shows what's holding up and what needs rework before anything new gets built.
No. The strategy is yours to take wherever you like, including to another agency or an in-house team. You keep the working documents too, from audit findings to prioritised plans, depending on scope. Nothing is held back.
Most clients do stay, though. Our average client relationship runs to eight years.
Success is defined before work begins. KPIs are agreed at the start and tied to your commercial objective. How they're tracked and reported depends on the scope and the shape of the engagement.
